Social and community access

A week with things in it, and someone you like doing them with

Getting out is the part most people notice first. It is also the part that falls over fastest when the worker changes every fortnight. This is the biggest part of what we do, and we build it around what you enjoy.

What it covers

This is getting out and being part of your community. Our workers help people do the things they enjoy and stay connected: fishing and picnics by the river, ten-pin bowling, lawn bowls, rounds of golf and table tennis at the PCYC, hikes to keep fit, group BBQs where everyone gets involved in the cooking, and catching up with friends who they might not see otherwise.

01

Real things, not filler

Nine rounds of golf and table tennis at the PCYC. Ten-pin bowling. Lawn bowls at the club. Hikes to keep fit. Fishing and picnics on the riverbank. Swimming. Over the school holidays we bring people together for barbecues where everyone gets involved in the cooking. The activity is chosen because someone wants to do it, not because it was on a roster.

02

Easier with someone you know

A lot of the people we support would tell you they're not big socialisers. What we see is that they do just fine once they're out with a worker they trust. That's the whole argument for consistency: the same familiar face is often the difference between going and not going.

03

Getting there is part of it

We run our own vehicles, so transport is built into the support rather than being the thing that stops it. Appointments, outings and the trip home all get planned together.

Where we work

Available across a two-hour radius of Dalby

We are based in Dalby and cover roughly a two-hour radius, which takes in a lot of country other providers will not travel to.
